Contributed Rake Method

Each rake contribution method has positive and negative considerations for the player. One of the more popular methods used by poker rooms is the Contributed Rake Method, or sometimes referred to as the average rake method to determine their players’ individual rake contributions.

The Contributed Rake Method only takes those players into account who put money into the pot, either in the compulsory blinds or by actively betting.  Under this method, if you fold your hand, without posting a compulsory bet (blind) or a voluntary one, you earn zero rake contribution and thus zero rakeback. If you do make some kind of a contribution though, you will be allotted an equal amount of rake contribution with all the other active players in that hand, regardless of how the hand plays out.

The good: The Contributed Rake Method is an improvement in fairness over the Dealt Rake Method, which gives passive players equal credit for the resulting rake. The Contributed Rake Method distributes the resulting rake evenly to all players who contributed something to that hand's rake.  It offers a huge advantage to players who play a lot of hands; limping and folding to raises, or seeing a lot of flops, but not going far in hands.

The bad: The Contributed Rake Method is not as accurate as the Weighted Contributed Rake. The Contributed Rake Method gives too much credit to those who limp into pots or see a lot of flops without actively playing through the hand to its conclusion.  The fact that someone contributes a little something to the pot doesn’t mean they should get equal credit with players who invest a lot more into the pot as it plays out. The players who play big pots often end up generating rake contribution and thus rakeback for those who barely limp into the hand and fold early on.

How the amount of rake that you are awarded for a raked hand is calculated varies between poker sites. The Contributed Rake Method is also known as the Average Rake Method.

Knowing the difference between a poker site or networks Rake Contribution Method combined with your own playing style is vital in maximising your rakeback deals. If you choos a method not suitable for you then your amount of rakeback may not be as high as it could be compared to just playing at a different site.

You Must read each sites RakeMeBack review that includes this information and much more about the rakeback deals they offer.

The contributed rake method only takes those players into account who put money into the pot one way or another. If you are dealt cards and then fold without posting a compulsory bet (blind) or a voluntary one, you earn zero rake contribution and zero rakeback.

If you do put money into the pot pre flop then you will be allotted an equal amount of rake contribution with all the other active players.

The Contributed Rake Method is an improvement in fairness over the Dealt Rake Method, as it awards rake and rakeback to those players who are active in the hand and does not just give rakeback to players who have folded. But that does not mean it is good for your rakeback deals as all poker players have a different style that effects their own rakeback payments.

Even if you fold pre flop (as soon as you get dealt cards) and you have not put any money in the pot for that hand (for example you have not been forced to post a blind) you will still be counted in any raked hand calculation.

This means that in the Dealt Rake Method of working out your rake contribution you can play as little or as many hands as you like and you will still get the same rake contribution amount, and therefore the same rakeback payment, as another player who is involved and raising nearly every hand.
